for accommodation in Sicily The province Trapani in the northwest of Sicily is a fascinating holiday area as it combines all the Mediterranean charms on a very small area: beautiful sand and rock beaches with emerald blue water, rocky nature reserves with steep cliffs dropping into the sea, testimonials of ancient Greek culture, like the world famous temples of Segesta or medieval places like Erice. Climate The climate is typical for the Mediterranean region; i.e. dry-hot summers and very mild winters. March to June and September /October are especially nice and pleasant in all respects. Our holiday houses locations The holiday houses we selected are located around Castellamare del Golfo and Scopello, at the foot of the large nature reserve "Riserva Naturale dello Zingaro" the region can easily be called one of the nicest coastal sections of Sicily and the Mediterranean! Castellamare del Golfo has a good infrastructure of shops, restaurants, bicycle rentals etc. and is located at the foot of the mountains. The castle after which the town was named is located on a small peninsula between lovely beaches. Scopello is located a few kilometres to the north; a small fishing village, famous for its tuna catching system that was still active not long ago. ![]() Nature Numerous dreamlike small sand beaches surrounded by rocks with emerald blue water and the larger sand beaches near Castellamare offer something for everyone. The rocky coastline is ideal for snorkelling. It is simply a dream-like area with small beaches, steep coast lines dropping into the sea and the peace and quiet of the surrounding landscape. Shortly after Scopello the road ends and the 1600 ha large nature reserve "Riserva dello Zingaro" a paradise for nature lovers and hikers begins. Culture and excursions The northwest of Sicily is also an ideal starting point for exploring the Greek heritage of the island. World famous temples can be found near Segesta and the temples in Selinunte and Agrigento can easily be visited in day trips. Palermo is only 1 hour away and is extremely rich in culturally historic sights from all eras. The archipelago "Isole Égadi" is located between Trapani and Marsala - an especially nice visiting experience! The people of Sicily are remarkably friendly and helpful and nobody should let prejudice or negative opinions stop them from visiting this beautiful island! |
